We made it to OKC around 3pm (by the time we made it out of town it was after 12). Brad wanted to take a nap, then he didn't, then he did. So he did, for 10 minutes. But we ended up laying around for over an hour and by the time we got around it was almost 5! I wanted to go see the Oklahoma National Memorial (the site of the OKC bombing) but the museum closed at 6 and they sold their last tickets at 5. Because the weather was supposed to be rainy and cool the next day we decided to go ahead and go to the memorial and see the outdoor part (since it was open 24/7) while the weather was nice and we'd do the inside tour the next morning. Let me tell ya - it's heart breaking to even be there. I knew very little about the bombing, I won't revel my age when it happened but I was too young to understand everything that happened. So as we walked the grounds and read the guide it was almost like hearing it for the first time.

After we left the memorial we went to Bricktown to eat dinner at Crabtown. It was awesome. I had never been and to be honest the menu really overwhelmed me. I sent a text to my sister-in-law and asked her what she normally got. When she responded it all sounded like so. much. food. Then she sent a 2nd text that said her husband usually ate the bigger portion. I ended up getting Cajun Snow Crab. It was great!! I loved that place!
After Crabtown (please ignore the difference in alignment here. Blogger decided to hate me this morning) we immediately went to the car because a cold front was coming through and the wind was FRIGID! Brad drove us around town and then I begged to go back to the hotel. I was tired, had to go to the bathroom (TMI?), and I really didn't feel like getting lost. Not that we were lost, I just didn't want to get lost. Apparently, Panera in OKC is not open as late as normal Paneras because when we walked over for a little snack it was closed (suck!). Brad then went across the street for a hot fudge sundae from Sonic. Love him.
Saturday morning we woke up and got ready! Preparing for a cooler day then before I wore a long sleeve cardigan (not a thick one by any means). We went to the museum which continued to break my heart even more because it showed video from the day of and a recording of a near by building's meeting when the bomb exploded and this girl is just way too compassionate. When we got to the room where it had pictures and names of all the victims I wanted to cry. Especially to see so many children and even a few women who were pregnant killed. Ugh, why do people have to be so mean!?
Anyway, not wanting to depress any of you, we went to lunch at Big Truck Tacos after the museum and talk about good food. Brad begged me to let us come back the next day but I was very firm when I said "I don't want any food repeats".
My favorite part of Big Truck Tacos was probably the fact that their cups were plastic, so we get to keep those bad boys :). After lunch we decided to go shopping. We had a really fun afternoon at the mall, we did a lot of shopping. We were heading to get some fro-yo when we passed a Border's that was having a store closing with a lot of good sales. After buying some books we went to Pink Swirl. By this time, y'all, it was close to 6 (I believe) and we had yet to eat dinner but we were eating yogurt. Mmkay. After the fro-yo we went to Bricktown for dinner. Don't ask. ha! We had sushi at In The Raw. Y'all, it was the best sushi ever. I think it alone was worth the drive to OKC. I'm so glad Brittany and Scott told us about this place!
We were so full when we left. The sushi chefs were some of the best I've ever encountered. Everyone was so friendly and I wanted to come back, but I had the "I don't want any restaurant repeats" rememeber? We walked around Bricktown and then went back to the hotel. I was exhausted.
Sunday morning we got up, got ready, checked out, and went to church. Brad presented me with an anniversary card. It was a Modern Family themed card that made me laugh. He's so sweet. :) We went to Life Church.tv. We had heard about it from several friends and I knew that I wanted to attend church if I couldn't be home to attend my own. So we went there. And it was great! I really enjoyed it. After church we ate at Hideaway Pizza. Which really reminds me of Mellow Mushroom. It was really good. We decided to head home after that because we couldn't think of anything else to do. Lame, right? ha!

While we were gone Brad's parents came over to our house and painted our front bedroom. We were planning to do it on Friday of Spring Break but they decided they'd do it while we were away. I appreciate them for this more than they know. Brad's mom also did our laundry, washed our dishes, and cleaned our house. Now, our house was not dirty when we left. But it needed to be vacuumed and she also organized our bookshelf. (THANK YOU!!!!) And Sunday when they found out we were coming home early we learned that they were going to surprise us with one more thing. Mowing our lawn and planting flowers. But because we came home earlier than planned we were able to help out in the yard and enjoy time with them. We also had an awesome BBQ dinner. It was a great way to spend our Sunday afternoon. :)
{Don't you love this color!?}
A special thanks to Megan for letting us enjoy her town for the weekend and helping out with some ideas of where to stay and what to do! So wish I could have met up with you and precious Eli!!
